March 5, 2010 Birthday Party with Isaac!

Kenyon and his cousin Isaac have really close birthdays so Jen and I have a combined family party for them each year. Here are the pics in a really bad order, but I can't figure out how to move them around tonight. Boston getting in on the cake action. He MUST sit in a big chair. Thus he falls a lot. Poor guy always has a bruise somewhere. But..he is very tough and is very good at falling. Lets face it...not all kids are. Boston can get up from a fall that would have put weaker kids in the hospital. He is a tank!

Isaac (Jen's youngest), Abigail (Jen's oldest), Kenyon and Chance (Anna's oldest: she is having another boy in June! Her third!) Enjoying Jennifer's amazing cake. Abigail was born on Dr. Seuss' birthday so she had a Seuss themed party a few days before this.

Smiling for the camera! Kenyon is finally figuring out how to smile AT the camera and even says "cheese". Not sure who taught him that...probably the TV or nursery. I can thank both of these things for Kenyon's education.

I think this is the first year Kenyon really "gets" a birthday. OK he doesn't really get it, but at least he knows how to blow out his candles:) Again thanks to the TV. Jeremy and I don't make a HUGE deal out of events and I don't really prep my kids for things. You know..I don't want them to demand present or have selfish expectations, but I am seeing the advantages of building up holidays, birthdays, etc so they know what is appropriate behavior.

Jennifer makes these awesome cakes. We like to call them "HOHO on Steroids". Chocolate cake layered with whipped cream again and again with chocolate fudge generously poured over the top...it is heart stopping...literally one day it may kill me:)
Kenyon got some wonderful books and a Little Einstein ball which was a BIG hit. Love my family!!!

March 3, 2010 Dog Park

No pictures of Kenyon...I feel bad, but what do you do? So enjoy Boston! How can you not LOVE those cheeks!!!!? Plus the lips?! Darling!!!!
Snugglin' with Dad!

Boston and Kenyon both love dogs. They would run over mountains (busy road, parks, through houses, to strangers, etc. ) if they knew there would be a dog on the other side. Boston had a great time with this German Shepherd puppy. Same energy level!

March 2, 2010 Playing with Cousins at the Park

Kenyon, Boston, Hayden and Alison all got to go play at the park so I took some pictures. The boys are getting bigger and can do so much more with the cousins. They are really good friends!
Here is the crew having a few snacks. Hayden is being so helpful as he tries to get Kenyon to look at the camera. Nice! All the shots I got of Boston were of him eating. He is a great eater don't get me wrong, but when he is eating is the only time he ever sits a little still thus no action shots of my busy boy.
Kenyon just a swingin'!

Boston eating raisins.....
Eating apple slices and juice. I think we have the fruit group covered:)

What a big kid Kenyon is becoming! It is so fun!

Alison's Birthday Party at Mountain Mike's

Can you believe these pictures are from the end of Feb? Of course you can...this is me your talking about:) Alison had her party at Mountain Mike's which has person ties for Jeremy. His family use to go there all the time when he was growing up and one just opened in South Jordan not too long ago. Fun little pizza place with arcade and private party rooms...good for containing roaming children. Thank Heaven!!!
Kenyon was super happy with his chick he got in his party bag.
Grandma worked the pinata beautifully...no hitting, just her shaking the candy out. It was raining candy! Could it get any better?

We are moving to Las Veagas...wait no we're not...Yet?

I typed up this whole post the other day and just realized it didn't post for some reason.
I'm confused.
Anyway, the short of the long of it is that we were going to move to Las Vegas for a campaign, now we are not. Now we are in what I would call a "holding pattern". Waiting for the candidate to decide if he need Jeremy in Las Vegas or not.
Maybe I will journal more about it later, but I do have a question for anybody out there with an opinion:
How do I tell people I have a new phone number?
We disconnected our phone (moving right) now I have a cell and I don't want to presume that everyone I have on my phone book wants or even cares if they have my phone number, but maybe some do. Any suggestions for me?

Camera is broken: my excuse for not blogging, plus I packed and unpacked my whole house and thought I was moving.

Sledding!

A few weeks ago Jeremy and I took the boys sledding for the first time. This may have also been my first time sledding. Maybe I have gone tubing before....but I don't remember. Anyway...we had a blast!!!
Jeremy and Kenyon were sledding partners. Kenyon was so excited (shocker) and went up the hill again and again. He was very determined to make it to the top and dragged his Daddy with him. This place is right by our house, perfect. It is the hill behind the elementary school just up the road from us:) I never knew it was there. Thank you Liz for cluing me in.
I have to tell this story. Jeremy and Kenyon were headed down the hill on a nice smooth course, when they started to drift towards the jumps, bumps, ramps, whatever they are called. I about fainted and every thing went into slow motion. They Faaa-L-E-W off this jump. The sled was airborne, Jeremy and Kenyon flew off the sled, and I just knew someone was dead. And then...Jeremy held onto Kenyon and they landed back on the sled!!!! and slid to safety!!! Freaking out! They were totally safe. OK let's be honest: Jeremy's back and hip were quite sore that night and the next day, but overall...amazing...seriously so blessed (say with a valley girl lisp).

Bos and I took many trips down the hill and nobody wanted to go home when it started to get dark.
When we got home, Liz and Brian had their boys in the backyard sledding and we tried it a few time. Who knew in my own backyard I could go sledding? So we have gone sledding a few time in the backyard. The big problem is if you get going too fast, you could fly into the street...DANGER! So we try and be safe. Kenyon can go down by himself and has only made it to the street one time, but Bos and I really pick up speed so I have learned to dig my heels in. Yay snow! Never thought that would come out of my mouth:)

Bobbi ball with Kenyon

I just had a twenty/thirty minute conversation, well one-side conversation, with Kenyon about "Bobbi ball". He did all the talking. We were playing catch with this little, plastic, orange, Nerf ball and he went on and on about the "bobbi ball". Does he mean "Boston's ball"? or "Baby ball"? All I know is that there was a lot of twirling, face pulling, hands in the air, waving, high kicks and excitement going on about this "bobbi ball". Most of the time Kenyon was talking and watching himself in the blank TV screen. He was obviously very interest in and satisfied with what he saw. I did understand a few of his phrases:"ready-set-go", "Mommy", "catch", "good one", probably a few others, but I can't remember. He has been so careful about talking. Not shy at all, but I think he get easily frustrated/discouraged when he talks, it doesn't come out right, and I don't understand. Thus he doesn't try to talk very often especially to other people. It was so fun and cute to see him so excited to tell me all the things he was thinking about:) Love him!!!

1st Time at the PlayPlace

Can you believe I have never taken my kids to the McDonald's Play Place? What kind of mom am I? We have been to a Carl's Jr. place once? twice? before with Grandma, but never McDonald's. This was right after Christmas and it had been snowing for days...ugh. I was tired of being in the house and the boys were worse. I had to run to the store to pick up a shoe Kenyon had kicked off and lost in the store on Christmas Eve. So on the way home I saw good old McDonald's and decided to drop in. SO MUCH FUN!!!
Kenyon actually didn't eat anything. He just dropped by occasionally to get a sip of apple juice and a french fry. Boston though...he can put handle himself with a box of chicken nuggets.
Do you love their Happy "HOWL"idays T-shirts from Grandma?
This is where Boston parked himself for most of the time and he NEVER went down the slide. People just pushed passed and stepped right over him and he didn't mind at all.
Kenyon went bananas! I got some cute video of him and then there was this cute little girl. She started with Boston and was being a big sister with him: pulling him around, picking him up, you know the big sister taking charge of things. Boston didn't mind. He probably is use to being toted and bumped along. Well, the little girl's mom told her to stop (good lesson, but she really was just fine) and she spotted Kenyon. Those two held hands for about half an hour! Kenyon ran after her, she ran after Kenyon. They were just the perfect size and energy level for each other. Kenyon is such a sweetheart too. If you hold his hand he is yours!
After about 90 minutes it was time to get home and go to bed, but they had so much fun and it was a blast to see them playing so well together and with other kids. It's moments like this when I think,"It's not so bad having kids close together." Then I remember my weaknesses and thank heaven there is not another one yet:)

New Years!

Jeremy and I played it a pretty quiet for New Year's Eve...you know, popped some corn, had some non-alcoholic drinks, watched a movie, snuggled:) Perfect evening for me. The next morning we headed over to Grandma Roberts' house for a special New Year's Day breakfast and fun with cousins. Grandpa made biscuits and gravy (my favorite) and the boys pounded the eggs and hash browns.

Kenyon had a ball playing with the noise makers. He mastered blowing two at the same time. Such a proud moment for me:)

Boston, like always, touched more stuff than he should and put everything in his mouth. What a busy little guy! But so super cute!

Kenyon and Alison play so well together. It is nice to have cousins that live close and have cool toys.

Boston could not leave this little stool alone. He pushed it all over Grandma's house and used it to get to things he shouldn't touch, which are everywhere. (Our Grandma does not kid proofed her house and I have not trained Boston well enough yet to let him just go.) He is in a stage now where he loves to push chairs around. Great when we are at church, dinner table, resturaunt, etc. What a funny kid. Definitely a mover and shaker.

CHRISTMAS!!!

What would Christmas be without a picture of Porter with" COW". His favorite (and only) stuffed animal that he gets once a year to tear to shreds. Merry Christmas Porter!

Kenyon's bestest gift was a "SUPERWHY" cape, mask, wand thingy that Jeremy picked up as he strolled down the aisle of Target. I asked him at the time if he really thought Kenyon would like it. You will see in many subsequent pictures that Kenyon wears that outfit everywhere:) Jeremy makes sure I remember how right he was:)

The boys in their Christmas jamies checkin' out the loot. Boston sat on my lap most of the time and was happy to see everyone else have a good time. Kenyon kind-of got it...maybe not. I don't think I do a good job of teaching the Santa stuff, but I think next year Kenyon may get it more. This year was all about breaking the ornaments from the tree. The boys never even touched the presents under the tree....NEVER! Can you believe it? BUT...I think that Kenyon broke a solid dozen Christmas balls. The tree is looking a little bare.

The boys in their darling Christmas outfits provided by Grandma Roberts. We had Jeremy's family over for breakfast/ brunch/ lunch, whatever it turned into and Jeremy made an amazing meals for us. My favorites were the smoked salmon, poached egg dish and the pistachio crusted french toast....YUM-ME!!!! Plus everything tasted even more amazing with fresh whipped cream on top and bacon. I have to mention the waffles, danish dessert, fresh OJ, sausage cheeseballs, sweet little sausage things...it was crazy. I wish I had taken a few pictures of the feast Jeremy made, but oh well.
Then Grandmas broke out "The Bishop's Wife". It is one of the best Christmas movies ever! SO sweet and it has become a family tradition to watch it every year. All in all, it was a very Merry Christmas with Christ and family as the focus.

Catching up...Let's Start with Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was wonderful!!! We had our good friends Zach and Irene over for a shepherd's dinner (just a dinner like the shepherds would have had) and read from Luke about Christ's birth. It worked out perfectly with Kenyon and his stuffed Nativity. After dinner Zach and Irene offered to stay and help tie quilts for Christmas. I don't think they were planning on staying up until 5AM!!! Sheesh!!! But they seemed OK with it and the quilts turned out beautiful.

We set up shop in the kitchen. This was Zach's first time tieing and he was so great at it.

Jeremy, who is a crazy good tie-er wasn't feeling well that night and ended up snoozing under the table we moved into the living room. So cute!

Three great quilts for Jeremy's niece and nephews, 3 total. Maybe I could do that for my nieces and nephews...no I think we are up to 22 and at least one on the way...not me though...Anna!
