Puppy Love

Yes... that is what it is with our little Porter. When I came back from St. George I noticed that our puppy looked a little heavy. Maybe it was because I hadn't seen him for a week and have just grown accustom to his size, or maybe a week without walks and pizza for dinner with Jeremy. I am not sure which it is, but I have set a goal to get him back into his svelte self.

So yesterday we went to the dog park to let the little dog run his brains out. It was the best time ever!!! Porter took care of himself, except for the continual desire to play fetch which required me (my shoulder is so sore today) and anyone else who took pity on him when I wouldn't/couldn't throw the ball. Kenyon took to crawling around the park. (No worries MOMS I sanitized him when we got home.) There were a couple little puppies at the park that where just Kenyon's size: A tiny, tiny boston terrier/pug mix was so cute and lap size for Kenyon, and a ridge back puppy that could just keep up with Kenyon and would wrestle with him a little. The ridge back was the most mellow puppy I have ever seen and was content just to stay by Kenyon, sit with him, lick him, and jump on him when Kenyon would crawl away. Kenyon definitely held his own though and I keep making sure the owners were not worried my baby was hurting their puppy. I wanted to get pictures, but those two where moving and I was also trying to keep Kenyon from putting too much dirt and rocks in his mouth:) So fun!!!!

Plus the weather has been so nice lately that we have been able to go for walks everyday. On Wednesday we met a friend down the street who has vizslas too (my puppy is way cuter than his). He hunts with his two dogs and really wants to take Porter out and see how he does. I know Porter would just LOVE to get out in the field with the birds, but Jeremy is against hunting and letting someone take our dog. Let me know is you have any suggestions on changing a husband's mind on this matter or for any other matter at that:)

We used our walk today to do visiting teaching on the last day of the month. Probably needless to say it was just a drop off of treats, cards and a printed message from the ENSIGN. At least I did something right? I will be better next month. GO VISITING TEACHING...RA RA RA!!!!

ROCK(ing chair) CLIMBING

Right about now Grandma Roberts is regretting giving me that chair, or at least letting me put it so close to his crib:) Kenyon the Adventurous got himself to this position with no help or encouragement from Mommy (she does like to support his escapades, but let's not tell Daddy). I was so impressed with his balance and skill. He showed off a little by standing on just one leg and kicking the other leg around. Then he would throw his head back and laugh. SO CUTE!!!The only problem is getting down. That is when Kenyon starts squawking and I come to the rescue. I couldn't be prouder!

PS It was a good hair day for me:)

Been Gone :)

I took a little vacation to St. George and really don't know where to start. How about some pictures?

We headed for the airport on Valentines day. This was crazy because the night before was that terrible storm with the 57mph winds. Our power went out about 4pmish and then finally came back on at 12:17am. Jeremy was so cute that night! As soon as the power went out, we broke out all our smelly candles(and they are not a few) and burned them all:) Our house smelled fantastic!!! As the night wore on Jeremy was getting concerned that we were going to starve and headed out to find some food. He was back within minutes; the roads and wind were impossible to drive in. He attempted again a little later and was successful in hunting down a Carl's Jr and brought the family home a couple bags of sandwiches... just in case. SOOO then it took us a little longer the next morning to get to the airport than normal, but thank heaven for Gold Medallion status...I was to my gate in an easy 20 minutes. This is Kenyon in his stroller waiting for our flight that got delayed an hour:)

The small airplane that took us to St. George. I know riding in a loud, warm, bumpy plane with only gingersnap cookies doesn't sound like most ideal flights, but when your little baby has been up for 5 hours straight...it was heaven sent. Kenyon literally passed out about half way through the 60 minute flight he was so tired.
My little brother, Adam, and his wife, Natalie, took us to the St. George Parade of Homes. The homes were absolutely incredible!!! I had a hard time even wrapping my head around the idea of having a house that big. Adam had no problem with it at all and tried to convince me you needed 10-15,000 square feet to raise your children:) We saw some smaller homes as well that were just as beautiful and seemed a little more attainable than the mansions we saw the first day. BUT...the thing that I am most proud to report is that two of my other brothers, James and Jeff (the twins) both had houses in the Parade. James did the frame work on a house in Ivins that got rave reviews and Jeff did the engineering for a house in Stone Cliff which was super modern/contemporary. Great job James and Jeff!!!

Here is Kenyon helping(?) me pack. He has become such a climber:) (I will put in some pictures a little later of his latest conquest. ) I also got to celebrate my birthday in St. George with the fam...we had cake on Monday night and then went out to dinner on Tuesday. It was a very low key vacation but accomplished what I wanted most...to get out of the snow and warm up. We went for long walks everyday, most of them at the college track so Adam could get fitness center credit. OK... so I wanted to see my mom before she left on her mission too. We actually got to do a lot of prep work for her mission. We shopped, did errands, shopped, mailed in Rx, shopped, and packed a little. Her farewell on Sunday was very uplifting and James, Jeff and Adam sang a beautiful hymn with Lisa playing the piano arrangement. I am sure I am forgetting something terribly fun that we did, but mostly we sat around the table as a family and talked a lot and talked very late into the night. Normal Loris family tradition.

Baby Update

Well...I finally got into the doctor after having to reschedule last Wednesday because I couldn't find my car keys (and no Kenyon didn't lose them...I did). Probably needless to say, but my doctor was a little surprised to see me so soon; I could tell he was checking his records a few times and counting:) Asked a few telling questions like: Was this planned? What kind of birth control where you using? How old is your little boy now? He is great:) Anyway...thanks to technology we found out that I am 11 weeks along (only a week or so more of morning sickness) and the baby is due on September 2, 2008. That will make Kenyon and the new arrival just over 17 months apart. I must say...beside the occasional queasiness...pregnancy suits me. I need to eat a lot and sleep a lot. Both are talents I have had for a long time. As soon as I can figure out how to scan in these pictures from the ultrasound and make them look good I will try and post them (don't hold your breath though).

02.05.2008 Happy Birthday Daddy!

A little shout out for the best Daddy in the world...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Jeremy celebrated his 29th birthday with the family. We started the evening out by voting in the Utah Presidential Primary. Then we made our way to Cafe Rio for appetizers. Next we hit his favorite restaurant, WINGERS, with his parents and ate way too much. Then we had dessert :) Kenyon surprised us all with his bottomless pit of a stomach...obviously there is no fill line for little corndogs and mint ice cream (don't tell Kenyon's doctor). We all groaned as we made our way home for the evening and enjoyed the leftovers around midnight.

02.02.2008 GROUNDHOG DAY

This is a special post for Grandma Roberts and Aunt Jaime who always get the cutest outfits for little Kenyon...even for GROUNDHOG DAY:) We love you!

We spent Groundhog Day with Aunt Jen and the cousins. It was an extra special Groundhog Day in that it was also President Hinckley's funeral. What a special day to remember our dear Prophet and all he taught us through his Christ-like example. He truly lived as Jesus would have us live and showed us how to actually "BE" and become like our Savior. I will be ever grateful for his love, tenderness, and his testimony of Jesus Christ.

One Happy Baby

This is my happy baby. He is the best baby in the whole world. I have tried and tried to take a good picture (not one of my talents) and the first time I ask Jeremy to try he gets a great one with his phone no less. This is how I see my sweet little boy. Of course he has moments, but 99% of the time this is all I see:) He is loving, smart, curious, and adventurous.
Funniest thing happened this morning. I had put Kenyon in the tub to have his morning soak and left him there (please do not think I am a bad mother...I didn't go far) to play. I could hear him splashing and playing. I went into his room to get his outfit and when I came out...surprise, surprise...my little climber had gotten safely out of the tub - no crying or even a bump - and made his way into the hallway to play with his toys, or diaper and lotion as most people call them:) Scared me to death! He was just sitting there with this exact smile on his face letting me know how proud he was of himself. I was pretty proud myself after the shock wore off. I must stay by the tub more now or this little boy is never going to get really clean:)
